Monthly Meeting - June 2025 - When Gender Matters in Negotiation

Description

Wednesday, June 4th at 9am EST (9am New York, 2pm London, Thurs 5th 11pm Brisbane)

Gender in Negotiation: Women’s Leadership and Career Advancement with Hannah Riley Bowles

We negotiate all the time with work colleagues, friends, and family—to manage conflict, achieve our aspirations, and live by our values.  When and how do gender and other intersecting identities influence these negotiation processes? Hannah Riley Bowles will present the latest research on situational factors that moderate the likelihood of gender effects in negotiation and share an evidence-based tool for your negotiation preparation.

Hannah Riley Bowles is the Roy E. Larsen Senior Lecturer in Public Policy and Management at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS). Hannah chairs the HKS Management, Leadership, and Decision Sciences Area and co-directs the HKS Women and Public Policy Program. Hannah’s research focuses on women’s leadership advancement and the role of negotiation in educational and career advancement, including the management of work-family conflict.

She has been actively involved in negotiation and conflict management training, practice, and research for over 25 years. She has a DBA from the Harvard Business School, an MPP from HKS, and a BA from Smith College.
