Monthly Meeting - October 2024 - Paralympic Athletes and Support for Female Athletes on TeamNL
Tuesday 1st October, 6am EDT (6am New York, 11am London, 8pm Sydney)
Ina Janssen conducted her PhD research at the Australian Institute of Sport and the University of Wollongong under the guidance of Professor Julie Steele, investigating the relationship between landing kinematics and patellar tendon loading in volleyball athletes. Since 2012, Ina has been the lead sports biomechanist at the TeamNL Papendal responsible for elite athlete testing. This ranges from injury screening for handball players to testing different prosthetics for Paralympic athletes and measuring pedal forces in Olympic BMX-ers. Ina was Vice President of Research and Projects for the International Society of Biomechanics in Sports (ISBS) from 2019-2023 and is currently President-elect of ISBS. As a mother of two, she tries to balance family, work, sport and doing a physiotherapy degree.
In this talk, Ina will share some of her work on Paralympic athletes and what TeamNL is doing to support female athletes. Finally, Ina will share her plans and goals for ISBS during her term as President.
